Job summary

The Purchasing and Inventory Clerk will be part of the Parts Department team. He/she will be responsible for purchasing goods and services for all departments, replenishing inventories and following up on orders and projects. He/she will participate in receiving and inventory management activities. At all times, he/she must maintain professional and harmonious relations with directors, managers, employees, customers and suppliers.

Main responsibilities

  • Obtain bids from various suppliers;
  • Issue purchase orders (PO) for services and non-inventoried items, by telephone, e-mail or website from various suppliers;
  • Issue purchase orders for inventory replenishment;
  • Manage suppliers' Order Acknowledgement, required and promised dates;
  • Track backorders and rush orders;
  • Document item and supplier files;
  • Participate in inventory management and physical counts;
  • Participate in parcel receiving activities (to assist and/or replace warehouse/receiving and shipping clerks);
  • Store items in an orderly and easily accessible manner in the warehouse (to assist and/or replace warehouse/receiving/shipping clerks);
  • Actively participate in various projects;
  • All other related tasks.

Competency profiles

Training / Experience / Certification

  • Vocational diploma or equivalent relevant to the job
  • Two years' experience

Skills and abilities required

  • Attention to detail
  • Good planning, time management and multi-file management skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team to complete assigned tasks
  • Disciplined and organized
  • Ability to work with computer tools
  • Good customer relations skills
